Outlook Express v6 Setup Guide for Velociter Wireless IMAP Email

Launch Outlook Express by either:

    Double clicking the Outlook Express icon on you Windows desktop, or

    Clicking: Start > Programs > Outlook Express

Once Outlook Express is launched you will either see a screen similar to the one below, or if this is the first time Outlook Express has been run on your system, the "Internet Connection Wizard" will automatically start. If the wizard runs, which will prompt you to enter your "Display name", click here to skip to step 4.

Step 1:

Click File > Identities > Add New Identity...

Step 2:

Key in the name you wish to appear to recipients of your outgoing emails, then click OK.

Step 3:

When prompted to switch now, select Yes.

Step 4:

Key in the name you wish to appear to recipients of your outgoing emails, then click Next.

Step 5:

Enter your email address provided to you by Velociter Wireless.  Be sure to include @velociter.net suffix, then click Next.

Step 6:

Change the incoming mail server to IMAP.  Enter imap.velociter.net for the Incoming mail server, and stmp.velociter.net for the Outgoing mail server, then click Next.

Step 7:

Change your account name to your full email address, be sure to include the @velociter.net suffix, key in your password, then click Next.

Step 8:

Click Finish.

Step 9:

Depending on your system's unique settings you may be prompted to import, if so, select no and then click Next.  If this screen does not appear, click here skip to Step 11.

Step 10:

If the preceding step applied to you, click Finish to continue.

Step 11:

When prompted to view a list of folders, select Yes.

Step 12:

Choose the Sent folder (NOT Sent Items) and click Hide, then click OK.

Step 13:

Click Tool > Accounts...

Step 14:

On the Mail tab, select imap.velociter.net then click Properties.

 Step 15:

In the uppermost box on the General tab, key in the name you wish to identify this email account as, we suggest using your full name, then click the Servers tab.

Step 16:

Check the bottom checkbox: "My server requires authentication" and then click OK

Step 17:

Click Tools > Options...

Step 18:

Check the "When starting, go directly to my 'Inbox' folder" checkbox, then click the Security tab.

Step 19:

Uncheck "Do not allow attachments to be saved..." checkbox, then click OK.

Close and re-open Outlook Express.  

Congratulations, this will complete your new account creation.
